Biondi Basketball Victories Make The Journal News

The Leake & Watts Biondi Center in South Yonkers dominated the Class D state regional semifinals against Section 11's Ross on Tuesday at St. Joseph's College with a 76-46 win.  With three players who stand 6-foot-five, the Lions were able to completely control the boards.

"When I start on fire, my team follows behind me," said Biondi senior Dayvon Felder.  He finished with 20 points, seven assists and four steals.  Junior Lance McDowdell had 15 points and 15 rebounds (including eight offensive rebounds), sophomore Elijah McCants added 14 points and 14 rebounds, and senior Hakeem Barnes had eight points and 10 rebounds.

Next up for Biondi is a Class D state regional final rematch with Section 9's Coleman Catholic, which knocked the Lions out of last season's state playoffs. That game will be played at Farmingdale State College Saturday at 2 p.m.
