Leake & Watts lauded at New York State Foster and Adoptive Parent Annual Meeting

Leake & Watts received numerous awards at the New York State Foster and Adoptive Parent Association annual award banquet on October 30th. The association grants awards based on the votes of foster parents across all agencies in the state.

In recognition of outstanding service and dedication in several categories, Leake & Watts was given the most accolades of any agency. Miriam Rosenberg-Sica won in the category of Adoption Specialist, Wayne Woodburn won for Home Finding Supervisor, Anthony Orji won as Supervisor, Joann Daughtry was honored as a Family Support Worker, and Valerie Brown shared the award in the category of Social Worker.

Leake & Watts is known for having one of the most active and robust Foster Parent Associations in the state. The group meets once a month and is focused on training, workshops, and developing creative measures to support foster parents with challenges they might face. They also organize fundraising activities, host group trips and gatherings, and provide a welcoming environment for both children and parents.

The award banquet was the culmination of the 27th Annual Training Seminar in Callicoon, NY. At the seminar, Cynthia Robsinson Stanislous, Crisis Intervention Specialist, and Miriam Rosenberg-Sica, Adoption Specialist, led several workshops. Workshops addressed challenges particular to this economy for foster and adoptive parents as well as how to strengthen communication and relationships between parents and foster care agencies.
