The children and families served
by Leake and Watts suffer with serious and complex emotional, behavioral
and mental health problems. We have always understood that these
conditions include, but go far beyond, the post-traumatic stress
associated with childhood abuse and neglect. Over the years, Leake
and Watts has developed a range of therapeutic programs to meet the
specific treatment needs of children entrusted to our care:
-
In 1937, we created a Social
Service Department with trained social work staff.
-
During the 1970's, we
established partnerships with local psychiatric hospitals to ensure
programming for children afflicted with psychiatric disorders.
-
Today, we target specialized
treatment cottages for children with particular needs, including
three Diagnostic Reception Centers and cottages for youth impacted
by drug abuse.
-
Over the years, we have
developed a comprehensive approach utilizing our Primary Care
Physicians, Nursing Staff, Therapists, and Psychiatrists and
affiliated Community Base Heath Providers to ensure that each child
receives individualized care tailored to their specific needs.
|
Every child at Leake and Watts is
seen by a primary care physician and a medical home is established to
ensure that all of their medical needs are met. This includes all
retune examinations as well as specialty referrals and treatments. |

Nursing Case Management |
|

followed by appropriate specialists and that the foster parent has the
