Description of Duties: 

We are seeking certified teachers for classrooms in the Dr. Katharine Dodge Brownell School located on Castle Hill Avenue in the Bronx. The teacher will provide special instruction and supervision within a preschool classroom. Some duties will include but, not be limited to:

  • Preparing and implementing lesson plans.
  • Supervising the teacher aide/assistant.
  • Providing an atmosphere conductive to learning.
  • Preparing written educational progress reports, as required.
  • Attending CPSE reviews as required.
  • Participating in development of Individual Education Plans.
  • Maintaining classroom records.
  • Participating in staff meetings and trainings.
  • Working collaboratively with staff and parents.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications: 
  • M.A. in Special Education.
  • New York State Certification in Special Education required.
  • New York State Certification in Early Childhood Education required.
  • Sensitivity to a culturally diverse population required.
  • Bilingual/ESL Certification Extension preferred.
  • Experience in teaching disabled preschool population preferred.
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred.
