Many of us seek opportunities to expand our horizons and skills as well as participate fully in our communities. Though the Leake & Watts Adult Day Habilitation program, adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities gain an opportunity that might otherwise not be available to them.
In our program, we combine both recreational and pre-vocational activities to help participants learn how to participate more in their communities. Individuals supported may participate in creative arts activities, martial arts, and individual and group counseling as well as other educational opportunities.
Some days include volunteer work such as assisting at pre-schools and stocking shelves at a neighborhood food bank, taking community trips to local gardens, the zoo, museums, shopping centers, and other activities that provide the adults with opportunities to interact with their surrounding community. On other days, participants may take trips to gyms and parks where they can be physically challenged to hike, exercise, and interact with others.
By providing services through small, intimate and tailored group settings, we strive to meet the individual needs and desires of each person we support.
